Today after visiting a very cold Dryburgh Abbey (extra) the sun warmed us as we continued on to the ruins of Melrose Abbey. This is a view from the roof of the bell tower looking down to the flying buttresses with statues, gargoyles and fine carvings which fortunately withstood damage by marauders. There are many very interesting gargoyles of hobgoblins and strange creatures but I wanted to get a good photo of the famous pig playing bagpipes but it was not easy to get a clear image. I felt as if I was being watched by the Green Man which can be seen just below the nearest gargoyle.
