His Yoke is Easy
We sang at a splendid performance of the Messiah last evening in St Andrews.
The competition at the time was a ceilidh band playing in the street for St Andrews Day (which looked like a lot of fun!)
Holy Trinity church was quite full though and we all enjoyed the fabulous baritone, Ben McAteer, a rising star of the opera world.
What a superb voice he had, and the soprano, Anna Poole (part time Judge) was pretty great too.
J enjoyed it anyway and so did I.
He joked about the amount of time I spent practising-in fact I spent the same amount of time sellotaping my music together, as it decided to give up the ghost long before performance time.
As pages continued to fall out I placed them on my seat...
It was my daughter's primary school copy and cost all of £1.50!
The last time I sang all the way through was in 1982 in Loveland Colorado.
Anyway the Heisenberg Ensemble was magnificent and all credit to Gill wtghe conductor, who said-"I'd like to do this properly one year-properly rehearsed..."
Considering we had one three hour choir rehearsal on Friday and 1.5 hours with the musicians before the concert, it was pretty impressive.
Anyway, a totally joyous and uplifting evening all told.
PS This is the dying shot from my camera which has decided to give up the ghost...along with the score which is now in the bin!
