School

This school year has seen noticeably more demands for helping children with their English. This is possibly due to the teachers not being paid so they're not doing a lot of teaching but still setting homework.

Children come at all times of the day (even at 7.30 Saturday morning before school and during our school). Thankfully our children can help out most of the time too (but it does stop them doing their work) . One girl even brought me her science and kurdish homework to help her with the other day which is crazy - I'm the foreigner! But her mum never went to school - her father didn't want her mixing with boys so she never learnt to read and got married off aged 13, and now can't help her children with any school work. This kind of thing makes me so sad.
