The Promised Cake
At least what is left of it.
You can kind of read "Ning." But the "Happy Birthday" has already pleased our tongues and is settled nicely in our stomachs.
I am pretty impressed with us. We traded in our traditional birthday brownies for chocolate cake. Then, deciding a two layer cake would be more exciting than just frosting the large rectangle, and not having two (or even one) round pan, we got resourceful. We baked the cake in a large pan, cut the large rectangle in half once it was cooked and cooled, frosted the first half and used a spatula to put it on top of the other half, and then frosted the rest of the cake. It definitely looked homemade, but was extra special for Ning's birthday.
