Completed!

Last night the Thialf successfully installed the last module (The White Living Quarter on top) of the Tombua Landana Compliant Tower. The day before yesterday the Flare boom was installed, making it a complete platform now. The energy and financial market has changed a lot the last few months, can you imagine what that means for an investment like this? Total bill for this piece of 100.000 barrel oil a day producing equipment is over 2 billion US dollar. With Oil prices cut in two since the contract for this platform was signed, and an almost collapsed US financial market will give a lot of bosses some headache I reckon.

Anyway, it is completed and here are some facts and figures about weights and sizes:

Water depth: 370 meter (1214 ft)

Tower Base Template : 3.000 Tons
12 pcs Foundation Piles : 9.500 Tons
Tower Bottom Section : 29.200 Tons
Tower Top Section : 6.700 Tons
Topsides : 27.750 Tons


All in all 76.150 Tons of equipment was installed. Tonight the Retriever will depart for Cabinda Roads (Angola) for a new short assignment. The Ayang II, a Korean floating hotel barge has to be anchored out. Anchor handling for a change! I will show you a picture of this tomorrow.
