Day 270 - Whitehaven
No edit at all, isn't it beautiful?!
Another super day!
Got up at 5.30 to see the sunrise and then we set off from the cove on the boat to Mantaray bay. Absolutely kicked great barrier reef trips butt. We jumped off the boat, and Billy was in the small boat throwing fish food into the sea and I was just surrounded by beautiful fish centimetres from my face, haha all going well until a huge fish they have named George a good metre long nearly head butted me haha, it was just amazing. Felt like a mermaid! I kept diving under the water taking pictures of all the coral. We then took another 45 min ride to the whithaven beach. And all I have to say is wow. I have never ever seen such blue water! So so so beautiful. The sand felt like standing on a bag of flour. The sand from whithaven beach is so pure the Americans have used it for there glass on the front of there telescopes for NASA. How crazy is that! We went swimming with the reef sharks and then we all made a huge circle and huddled around some sting rays and they just bounced off you feet, just amazing to be able to swim with these amazing creatures in there home. We had lunch at Tongue bay which is known for being a turtle breeding ground. And as we were leaving a huge!! Turtle popped his head up out of the water. Just incredible.
The ride back was cool boucing up and down on the waves with music blarring. As the resort showers are all outside, I did my best mysterious girl under the shower, while the girls sat eating crisps in the 2 outdoor in the ground bath tubs haha and then we had tea! Probably the best and poshest curry I have ever had!! So yum! We listen to Henry (The skipper) tell us all about whitsundays on a huge map which was really interesting and then we played a few drinking games. Really fun day with amazing wildlife.
