Calne (Wednesday 30th November 2016)
I didn't get further than Calne yesterday morning because of visibility problems through the windscreen, the screenwash having iced up. Instead I took a short stroll around the town centre. At the church I was rewarded by the first sighting in a long time of Calne's resident peregrine on the church tower. It had recently had breakfast, judging by the feathers occasionally wafting down from its ledge.
The Extra shows where I took the picture from.
There are actually two peregrines that come to the church tower and later in the day a member of the Calne Wildlife group posted pictures of both on Facebook, far better than mine, taken that afternoon. This was taken with an effective 450 mm focal length, hand held, at 1/500th.
