Kinsale
Arrived at Cork airport about 2 and were sorted with our hire car and on the way to Kinsale by 2.30pm.
We struck lucky with a gorgeous B&B by the harbour in Kinsale. Our room had abalcony so we could enjoy the views of the harbour.
We took a walk out to Charles Fort past dozens of dream houses, with amazing views of the bay. Having done our culture bit for the day looking at the ruin, we stopped off in a pub on the way back and sat out on the harbour wall to watch the sunset. As we were there an elderly couple turned up with their elderly golden retriever. They were throwing sticks for him into the water. The first few he chased but one went a little two far and after initially setting off after it he screeched to a halt and refused to get it. There were quite a few people watching at this point and everyone just burst out laughing.
Felt so relaxed and happy and content and I could actually feel my head starting to clear. I would start to think about something to do with work and then it would just go all fuzzy and it just went 'blah, blah, blah' so I could only enjoy the here and now, which was great and doesn't happen very often.
We made another stop a little further on at another pub where there were 2 old steam engines parked outside, still chuntering away. What a way to get to your local!
Dinner was a lovely fish supper followed by a few more drinks in one of the pubs in Kinsale where there was a 2 man band playing requests - they were really good. Things started to liven up a bit when a hen party arrived and we were yawning on our feet and had no room for anymore drinks so we gave in and went to bed. What a fantastic day!
