Rifugio Borletti

Finally made it to the Borletti. Tried this a few weeks ago and failed miserably. One problem was that jeans and cowboy hat were extremely hot, so got about half way.

The other reason I failed was not enough painkillers for my knees.

This time I dressed light, took 800mg of ibuprofen (400 to start with, and 400 on the way up), and got on with the job, slowly, of walking the path to Mordor, I mean Borletti. Path 15 so I was reminded on the occasional painted rocks.

But 3km later, and 600m upwards I finally reached my target for this trip. Absolutely knackered though. Awesome view of Stelvio and well worth it.

I would love to do this again next year, but maybe spend the night there (8euros!), and head up to Rifugio Payer the following day. That's my next aim I think. That one is right at the top. Strangely enough after 2 hours to Borletti, they tell you "it's only 2.5 hours to Payer" (at my speed, 3.5 hours), but it didn't sound too bad. It was almost a case of "only 2.5? lets get on with it then!" But I decided better.

As you can imagine, the view was awesome. But it's also a little strange that after such a big walk, i'm still looking up another 600m to where I've been living and working for the last 2 months!
