If Only . . .

Strange how people get worked into a lather when pet dogs are left in hot cars parked outside shopping malls. Yet they don't become so outraged when pet shop owners inflict similar torture to exotic animals in their shops.

This salamander was lying on a log under blazing hot lights in the front of a safari truck parked inside a pet store at a swish new Montreal shopping centre. A sign on the outside of the truck banned photography. But no one was watching, and my camera is small, so . . .

Now, I wonder what would happen if animal rights activists turned the tables, swapping the positions of salamander and store owner for a day or so.

If only . . .
