Back to the forest
This has to be one of my new favourite places. Our third visit and our longest, loveliest walk yet. The gravel track, which covers a disused mineral railway line, felt nicer underfoot than the fresh tarmac and although we met several cyclists along the way (none of them give way to walkers), it was still very enjoyable with lots of opportunities for the dogs to stop and have a drink. I just wish I could make sense out of all the coloured, numbered waymarkers so we'd know exactly where we've walked. There are so many trails to follow, I really should pay more attention to the signposts along the way.
Must download some maps in preparation for next time and try to explore the meandering footpaths where cyclists are not allowed. I just wonder, with three dogs on leads, if it's safer to stick to wider tracks. It has to be easier, even with cyclists passing.
