Golden Cones

A dreary damp day so a good one for staying in the dry and doing some finishing touches to the Christmas weath for the front door.  In it is old mans beard gathered from a road near to the allotment, holly and ivy from the road next to the horses and cones from the arboretum at work.

At lunchtime I ventured out for a walk along the old railway line.  The plants looked so beautiful - the seedheads and berries, the blue and green lichen hanging on the branches of the birch and oak trees.  The birds flitting from one branch to another to find insects, made short high pitched calls.  As always, it was great to be outside.

This evening I had a walk around the village in the dark and the wet.  My umbrella was knocked around by the wind.  A few folk sat in the pub chatting to one another and the roads were lit up brightly by all the Christmas lights which have gone up on abundance today.  It looks pretty.
