Glorious Sunday morning

After yesterday's surprise good weather, we were lucky again. We went into the centre of Funchal and called into the back of the Se, the Cathedral. I love the atmosphere and the beauty of this holy place as the locals sing and worship (and are so welcoming).

Just a little further along there was an outdoor concert, given by a young choir. Carols and Christmas music of a very high standard. (The highest notes in "Oh Holy Night" rang out crystal clear, professional and pitch perfect - guaranteed tear-jerking. )

Further along the enormous Santa was often the subject of a festive selfie.

And the folkloric dance group were outside the theatre.

All in glorious sunshine and temperatures well into the 20s.

Time for an outdoor lunch and a trip back to swim and pack.
