Typing this days later so struggling to remember the detail of the day.

I do remember that Alan was groggy from all the pain relief but still managing a smile when awake for a few minutes at a time.

The surgeon had been to talk to David by the time I got to the hospital but the main message he gave was the op went well and they are happy with the outcome.  He also said that when they removed his colon, it was so diseased, the other drug we'd been offered as an alternative to surgery wouldn't have worked, so we had definitely made the right decision.  That made us feel much better.

My abiding memory of today though is of all the messages of love and support we received, on here, on social media, phone calls, texts and cards. I cannot thank you blippers enough for your lovely comments of support.  

It's at times like this that you get so see just how many wonderful people there are in the world and in your life.

Thank you LeeAnne for Alan's card and little gift pack.  One of the things that got a smile today :D
