Aira Force

This is not the shot of the 'fors' that I wanted. I was blocked by a group of Japanese and their kids climbing on the fence (quite a drop into the drink if they fell!). Being impatient I took this and moved on.

'Force' is taken from the old Norse (and current Swedish I believe) 'fors' which means waterfall. Some of the names up here are arrestingly Norse - Thirlmere, Threlkeld, Helvellyn - although Helvellyn is Cumbric in origin there are deep rooted connections. Great to see and hear.

Talking about Aira Force (or a near phononym at least!) - we saw 2 Lynx choppers today over Windermere...
