The lone Christmas tree

Jenny stayed the night. We had a late start as I'd woken at 4 and as a result of "I Daniel Blake", I couldn't get back to sleep till after 6.30. {Katy said she needed a stiff whisky and back to back episodes of Father Ted before she could go to bed).

The sun burnt off the morning mist so we were out by 10 - Jenny, visiting from Fife, had not been up Simonside for years - though she enjoyed it, she got a lot more puffed going up than she remembered. Along the tops we found this tree. Every year somebody goes up there, some miles from the nearest road, and decorates it with baubles, tinsel and Buddhist prayer flags. The tree has grown so much they must also take up a ladder.
