Iron Age Hill Forts

Friends picked us up for a walk above the Breamish Valley, two valleys further north into the Cheviots. It was a steep pull up, but worth it for the views into the remote wilderness, though the light was quite poor. The track took us round four hill forts. This was us reaching the first one, and the road going up to a few isolated farms is hidden down between the stones and the hill on the right.

We got home to find there had been a drama in the village. An unexplored WW2 bomb had been found under the bridge over the Coquet, so houses had to be evacuated and the bridge closed till the army could get there from Yorkshire.

The walking friends are coming for supper tonight. I have cleared out the freezer to make way for Christmas treats, so it is Stilton and Broccoli Soup, chorizo and pepper stew, and summer pudding slice.

Our super fast broadband(hoho) is running at 5mg so I hope this will upload.
