Memory Tree

Spent the day with Friend - the daughters were supposed to be going to Totnes to go xmas shopping so I was going to be with her  but she  was in a bad way.  I had asked Friend if she wanted to go into the Hospice and she said she didn't know - which was as close to a yes and showed how bad she felt. I spoke to the girls and said whilst I knew they wanted her at home we had to go with what she wanted, the eldest just wanted to spend the last xmas with her. Ifear she has already seen her last Christmas.
Once we had settled Friend back in bed and the girls had calmed down and the Dr been called, the eldest's boyfriend took them both to Tavistock just to get them out of the house and give them a break. Friend just slept until the Dr came in the afternoon. The girls were heading back but it meant I could speak openly to the Dr and tell her the fact that both Friend and the girls had no support was appalling and disgraceful. Friend roused enough to speak to the Dr and agreed to her contacting the hospice but felt she was ok to stay at home for now. The Dr was going to contact the Hospice. Shortly after she left the girls returned and I left them to go close the allotment girls.
That evening the Hospice crisis team came in and would be calling in twice a day until other support was found. The package has been planned they just cannot find the staff to implement it. This has been just typical of  Friends life the last two years -  inadequate and  ineffective treatment. But with the Hospice now involved the medical and physical care is being delivered, the girls have that lifted. They can now  spend their energy and  time to just give her their love and care.
This is a xmas decoration I gave Friend many years ago that is hanging on her tree.
