Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie lit up

Funny how you waken in the middle of the night, turn over and happen to look at the clock, to find that it's 9am!

JR went off to Stockbridge Market with Rufus and his mum and were away for hours. Very poor bus service on a Sunday - one (late) single decker bus eventually came, but sailed past them because it was full!

I had an unusual burst of energy and did lots of household chores, including having a fight with the newly washed and dried sofa cover while I tried to put it on again.

I also wiped the dust from the bedroom lampshade. This required climbing to the top of the ladder, but I could barely get my good leg up each step. I vaguely thought, when I got to the top, 'What if I can't get down?' But I decided that I could just topple off on to the bed if the worse came to the worst. As it was, I could get down, but very gingerly.

While I was doing chores, I listened to the next couple of chapters of 'The Purple Hibiscus'. I've listened to a few chapters when I can't sleep at night. There are plenty of audio books in 'Book at Bedtime' on iPlayer Radio.

We went up the hill, then Archie and I listened to Christmas songs on Spotify while relaxing. JR set off to the supermarket several hours ago, just to 'get a few things'. I know they're very busy at this time of year, but...

Archie wanted to try on the wee new lights for the table. He might wear them tomorrow when his little neighbourhood friends come over for a party.
