Christingle

This afternoon we got into the spirit of Christmas at the Christingle service.

We'd never been to our local Church (clearly, this sounds dreadful), and it's an utterly delightful, tiny Church.  Much of the service was by candle light, and after it had finished, mulled wine, mince-pies and brownies were handed around.  Even more reason to return!

The Christingle had the traditional cocktail sticks with sweets, to represent the seasons and the harvest.  Sadly, mine didn't last long, not because a small child ate them, but because I did.  My husband commented that it would be far more fitting for the sweets to be replaced with dried fruits and nuts, yes this might be a great idea, but no, it's just not right. Sorry darling.

The small child loved it - well, he got a little bored, but for 19 months old, he did well.  Members of the congregation were given figurines to make up the nativity scene and he wasn't too sure about handing over his little sheep, but did so with a little persuasion, well done little man.

Tomorrow, I swear the Christmas shopping will be finished, the final Tesco order goes in this evening, so we can sit back and enjoy the week, or at least wonder what I've forgotten.
