Looking down on the shoppers
These statues are 45 feet above ground and are all around the upper edge of the Victoria centre in Harrogate. They were quite controversial when they were put up, and it is unclear what they are really supposed to depict. They are an assortment of ordinary men, women and children - maybe typical clientele of the shopping centre?
It's difficult to appreciate them from street level, but this was taken through a window of a walkway connecting the centre with the station.
Close up, the statues are of moulded concrete (I think) and are weathered and look to be of poor quality. They certainly won't stand the test of time. I decided they look better in mono.
Someone has been up on the ledge where they stand and adorned the little girl with a scarf and hat.
