Wings wide open

Lampides boeticus, the peablue, pea blue, or long-tailed blue, is a small butterfly found in Europe, Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and Australia that belongs to the lycaenids or gossamer-winged family.  The wingspan is 24–32 mm for males and 24–34 mm for females.  That's according to Mr. Wiki, but they don't sit still long enough for me to measure.

I've never seen them in the garden before this year, but they can't keep away from the borage.  Another bonus for planting nectar plants that flower for a long time.

I reckon they were performing a little courtship ritual.  One would settle, and balleticly and daintily wiggle their lower wings, before opening to display their lovely blue colour.  At which point another would descend from a height, and then they'd both spiral off together.
