The Menin Road

From the Paul Nash exhibition at Tate Britain. This artist definitely gets my stamp of approval.
I think the chronological layout provides an appropriate vehicle to highlight the surrealist, spiritual themes that weave through his images.
It's great to see how the formal qualities slowly evolve in relation to content. Everything is underpinned by sound drawing quality and economic mark making ability - his confidence and pleasure in painting and drawing is uplifting and inspiring.
