We eventually managed to extricate ourselves from the cats, who were intent on keeping us in bed so that they could sit on us and got into the town centre for about 10am. After bit of last minute present shopping we had brunch in Carluccios, which had a great vibe with families and friends meeting up. One of the waitresses was entertaining a table full of young kids with singing and laughing and I have to say she was brilliant. One of our two orders was below par (eggs were hard) but they replaced it and gave us a free glass of prosecco each. TSM doesn't do fizzy wine so I had to drink both of them and after that the Christmas spirit did seem much more abundant. We stocked up on last minute food and booze in Boz the grocer’s and Sainsbury’s. People were very chatty and friendly everywhere you went. 


The afternoon was spent in a fairly relaxed mood although TSM got it into her head to prepare sprouts whilst we watched an old film (Scrooged with Bill Murray). At half past five we went up the pub and met Mr and Mrs Bear for our traditional Christmas Eve drink in The Crown. Very friendly this, loads of local people. After this it was home for LOTS of canapés style foods and board games with the Boys and Mr G. We played a new board game called Where In The World which was great fun.


So a rather fab Christmas Eve; very cheery, very festive. Here's to a good lie in ...
