"And unto you this day a child is born..."

Dear Diary,

A change of plans yesterday afternoon.  I went to the 2 pm children's service rather than the Christmas pageant at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hingham.  Karen and her family planned to go to that rather than the 4pm service and I felt it was more important to be with them.

The church is beautiful and Fathers Tim and Noah did a masterful job with all the little ones, some how getting through the story and having the children bring the the characters to the creche with out mishap although a little girl that had the Blessed Mother wanted to exchange her for a sheep, which made us all laugh.  Carole singing was interspersed throughout and I was wrapped in the magic of the Christmas experience again.

It was the first night of Hanukah and Karen's daughters' boyfriend is Jewish so he led us in a Hebrew prayer.  We had a lovely dinner and talked into the night.  Today, the whole family will be here and the Christmas gift exchange will begin.  I hope all of you have a joyous day filled with family and friends and, of course, great memories.
