Boxing Day
Boxing Day is my favourite day of Christmas! I enjoyed a couple of quiet hours before everyone else woke up and then we had a monster brunch. My nephew's wife is a Pilates instructor so there was a session of Boxing Day Family Pilates. Thankfully I was able to sneak away to have a late shower so I missed out. Shame!!
Our friend Rhod showed up just as I was about to take Dolly for a walk so he came along. We went to nearby Silchester where there had once been a Roman settlement and we walked around the ruins of the amphitheatre and the old city wall. It was a beautiful sunny and warm day and we caught the beginnings of the sunset. It was great to see lots of families out walking together on the traditional Boxing Day walk.
The best part of Boxing Day is the big feast of leftovers that we had when we got back. Cold Turkey and Ham, stuffing, Bubble & Squeak, pâtés, cheese, bread, and afterwards, ANOTHER Christmas pudding! It was like another complete banquet!
Of course we had a silly Boxing Day game. Everyone wanted Rhod on their team! It doesn't matter if it involves words, numbers, general knowledge, music or acting - he's always an asset.
Some of the guests left and the rest of us settled in to watch the movie 'Swallows and Amazons' before bed.
A perfect Boxing Day!
