A Cross In The Shadows, Aylesford

I decided to go for a slightly longer run this morning. There was a deep, hard frost and a patchy fog, dense in some places, infused by the sun in others. When I emerged from the dense patches and into the light it was stunningly beautiful and almost took my breath away as much as the cold and exertion did. It makes you appreciate what's around you and how it can change so dramatically through the seasons.
By early this afternoon the fog had melted away and it was a stunning crisply clear day with dark, sharp shadows. I loved the shadows caused by the trees against the brickwork of this unprepossessing building. I also noticed that due to the position of the sun I couldn't get rid of my own shadow, so rather than be annoyed by it I chose to make a virtue of it instead - a case of the cross really marking the spot.
I've also unpacked my new camera today and decided to use the incremental approach about learning how to use it properly. Luckily, I've owned Nikons before so it's not totally unfamiliar to me. An hour a day of self tutorial, then a bit of practice and repeat. Hopefully this will mean my brain absorbs all the information more easily. I'm a bit of a technophobe so small steps is probably a good idea!
