Chocolate Fountain Day

Katie slept out last night because I was covering for the blues this morning. They had a big sleepover with half her team and actually all slept in! She was last to wake up at 845. They spent the morning with the old ballet school headgirl who's back from dance college and the kids had all you can eat breakfast. Which they exploited fully. 4 hash browns my monkey ate! Yet when she got to me at the theatre at 1 she complained she'd missed lunch.

The two teams had an overlap today and in that time they all swapped secret Santa presents. Katie was terrible at not letting on who she'd gifted, particularly when her friend was super pleased with her present! The principal had come to see them all and brought Christmas chocolate for them. We ended up only getting Katie's team in the dressing room to start getting ready right as we got their 15 minute call. But we made it!

The show was great, a lovely festive atmosphere with excited kids and excited cast who hyped the kids up royally. The children aren't meant to mix with the cast but the layout of backstage and the particular cast that they have has made it unavoidable. They've been delightful with the kids.

Anyway, the chaperones were swift with the tidying and packing up tonight in a bid to escape quickly for Christmas fun! Katie and I were heading straight to Scarborough. We arrived in perfect time for grandad and granny's Christmas Eve party. Grandad had promised katie chocolate fountain and she had a fabulous time taking full advantage of it. I found out later she'd had 4 kebab sticks worth! She was really good about saying she was tired and ready for bed. The traditional reading of The Night Before Christmas took place with Aunty Kay and the appropriate snacks were left for Santa - katie chose Baileys as santas tipple of choice. There are perks to my girl knowing how Santa works in our house and her playing along with it. She thinks it's just as fun knowing it's mama. Though it wouldn't surprise me if she thinks I don an outfit of red to do the duties!
