The old year is almost over in half the world and thousands have gathered in the centre of Edinburgh for the Hogmanay festivities to welcome in 2017.  At midnight thousands of fireworks will be set off but we went earlier to nearby Musselburgh to see the fireworks at a time which was suitable for families.  Fortunately the strong wind and rain stopped in time and the backdrop of the twinkling lights across the sea in Fife provided a good backdrop for an enjoyable display.
