The Green Leaves of Summer
We had a successful New Years Eve and managed to stay awake past midnight. Our friends Dave and Debbie from Rotorua were staying with us and the brother in law and sister in law came over. The dinner was one of my better efforts and the conversation flowed. There were sparklers on the deck and we had a good view of the other fireworks.
We certainly didn't need it, but when did that stop me, and we started 2017 with waffles, berries, cream, maple syrup and bacon. Dave and Debbie left for Greymouth and we had a walk on the walkway behind us. Today it was the Reservoir Creek Walkway. The reservoir was built in the 1880's and served as Richmond's water supply for almost 40 years. It was planned for a population of around 500 with an estimate that each person would use around 10 gallons/45 litres per day. Today water use estimates are based on 200 litres per day/per person.
At the end of our walk as we were nearing houses again there is this planting of deciduous tree. I think they are Plane trees. I loved their big leaves.
Just us and the daughter now so perhaps we can get back to normal eating :-)
