By candlelight

We had relatives here for dinner last night - four generations of the same family, aged from 6 to 90. It was lovely to see them, both those of them I've known all my life and those we're just getting to know. They stayed through midnight, and I can't think of a better way to see in the New Year.

We're also delighted to have Victoria's friend Anina visiting us at the moment. As well as candles making handy subjects for desperation blips, I love the gentle and warm glow of candlelight for portraits. I took this shot of Victoria and Anina within the first hour of 2017.
