Swallow Grotto in Taroko National Park, Taiwan

I took this picture from inside a tunnel. There was a large hole cut out to reveal the face of the opposite wall of the gorge. Can you see holes on the surface of the gorge? These resulted from erosion by the water below, which used to reach up that high. People mistakenly used to believe that the holes were made by swallows in order to build nests. Whether the swallows really make their nests in the holes... who knows...
