Best foot

Post prandial jaunt up to the Iron Age fort above Mountain Cross. Tony and Leila opted out in favour of some city-based first footing. Charlie and Rory remained at the house to look after Mandy.

Stuart, Jack, Claire, Angus and I wandered down via the Castlecraig graveyard, across the 72 and up past Scotstoun Bank. Claire chose a steep ascent and set a punishing pace. Stuart wove slowly upwards, following gentle contours.

The fort was more extensive than we remembered it, looking imposing in the bright, slanted sunlight. A good vantage point from which to control the valley. Let's start an empire!
