Rock Dog
It took me until early afternoon but Basil and I eventually made it out into open air. We went to Beacon Hill. Since it was the New Year Holiday, the car park was fairly full.
Lots of people come just to look at the view with the Soar Valley and Loughborough laid out to the east.
Frost still lay in the lee of the rocks. This didn't deter Basil who took the opportunity to do his 'mad run' and greet other canine friends. He cavorted with a pale brown Poodle looking dog that was rather bigger than him. They chased each other making aggro noises. Basil looked quite scared at times as the Poodle seemed to be aiming at biting his tail, but would suddenly stop, turn round and chase the poodle. They both survived.
Basil scrambled over rocks and raced here and there. He didn't really want to go home, but needs must.
The extra is of the sun shining through the bare branches of the lone silver birch at the top of the hill. The sun is beginning its descent and the light scatters giving that golden misty glow so characteristic of winter.
