Scene of the crime
Walking around the nature reserve, I often find little piles of feathers showing that a bird has been dispatched by a fox or a raptor, usually a sparrowhawk. This morning I found a group of these pretty feathers, still with a heavy dew on them. They are all that remains of a non-native red-legged partridge, which are all too numerous in the valley due to constant introductions (and poor shooting?) by the local shoot. The culprit in this case was probably a fox.
