Diary of an Edinburgher

Chocolate digestives. Is this a trend?

Off to a free show at the BBC tent. It was a 'Behind the scenes at Twenty Twelve' one of my favourite shows. It was really really funny. Mark Lawson was interviewing chatting to the producer, the director and one of the actresses who happens to be in show in the Fringe. It was great. Did I mention it was free?

From there I met my Jersey pals, A & B -they of the much lusted after (by me) campervan - and we had a walk round the Mile and down town. The usual crowds in the Mile. Spotted a coalman statue leaning on a wall in a side street. That's different, I thought. I then noticed that he was tapping the ash off his fag. Funny statue. Then he put it in his mouth. Then blew out a cloud of smoke. Very odd statue. Maybe he was going to do smoke rings. No. He was a statue on a smoko. Tea break. He left his stuff at his pitch, lest someone else nab the prime spot, I presume.

I took the visitors to my Club (I like saying that) and they were most impressed. Loved the peace and quiet. AND there were chocolate digestives there. Never seen them before. Wonder if it's a trend. They've probably cut the interest rates on my investments to pay for them. Only I don't think it's possible to cut the interest rates.

From there we headed back to the Missoni to meet up with JR, who had grudgingly been in a work meeting all afternoon. A & B left for their train to Dunbar by 6pm, where the lusted after campervan is parked, but the night was young, and we had a good ringside seat, so JR and I ordered another bottle and watched the side show.

When we came out, we could hear drums. We went round to St Giles and it was a marvellous group with some very energetic dancers out front, joined frequently by members of the audience. I took loads of really super photos, but in the half light, at a slow speed, coupled with slight tipsiness, they are all blurred. Although the cobbles were perfect.

So I'll revert to this charming chap playing guitar. I've seen the chap encased in wire walking down my street of a morning. He still hasn't found his shirt.
