Final Festive Fling...
Backblip
The festive season wouldn't be complete without a fun night with my stepdad John and the lovely Norma.
They arrived at 3pm and we had coffee and cake and mince pies and more pressies from Santa.
They were absolutely desperate to see Alan as they hadn't seen him since before his hospital stay (John's nearly 80 and a visit to hospital would have have meant a three hour round trip so I wouldn't let them come. Plus I knew how upset they would be to see Alan so ill, better to have daily updates by phone) and Alan didn't disappoint. He was full of joy at seeing them. He loves his grandpa so much but it was Norma who he allowed to sit with him for a while and then grandpa was allowed to join them. He obviously wanted Norma to himself first. Oh yes, the flirt is back.
After seeing Alan we gave the a tour of the new kitchen, garden room and pool. We are so close to finishing now, they were able to see exactly all the hard work that's been going on since May, and they love it! They were particularly taken with the kitchen and it was lovely to have a sit down meal in there, after almost three years of planning and dreaming. I have to pinch myself to stop from thinking it's a dream!
David went to bed just after 11pm as he was back a work in the morning, the first time in over a month. Don't envy him trying to get his head back into that.
John, Norma and I stayed up a little longer chatting before tiredness got the better of us too.
A lovely evening.
