Foggy Carnforth Station

Today's the day ........................... to wait in hope

You could hardly see to the end of the platform today at Carnforth Station as the fog got thicker during the afternoon.

But mere fog was not going to deter the determined railway anorak, set on getting a shot of the Class 37, commonly known as The Growler on its way from Barrow through Carnforth at around 4.00pm.  You can just about make out the legs of his camera tripod - and the shadowy outline of the old signal box past the end of Platform 2.

When I left after a stint as a volunteer at the Carnforth Heritage Centre, an announcement came over the tannoy that it was running 10 mins late.  The lights were all red - but an enthusiast always waits in hope ........................
