Goodbye to the Wirral

One of those nervous days, too many goodbyes to be said, last bits to squeeze into the cases and a train journey to face. Two changes, (three, if sis-in-law hadn't driven us in to Liverpool), one at Birmingham Street, where the platform numbering is worthy of Basil Fawlty. HH was royally entertained on the first train by one Kevin George, who plied him with Coke mixed with something that looked and tasted suspiciously like whisky. KG was making the same connection at Birmingham and swore he would hold the train for us if we were late getting there. If you're out there, KG, we greatly appreciated the offer, but hope you didn't worry about what happened to us. We boarded the train waiting at platform 10A instead of 10B and only just got off in time before it bore us off to Hereford! We didn't have to wait long for another one and just hope we didn't cause you any trouble. It was great meeting you!
