Hearing the results of the 2016 Presidential Election with friends - Ahmedabad, India.

Receiving to the news that Donald J. Trump would be our 45th president of the United States of America was hard to swallow and process in a foreign country. Currently doing research in the western region of Gujarat on religious unity, there were many things I was learning about compassion, respect, and equality that seemed to be forgotten in my home country. My roommates and I (of which I am truly thankful for) decompressed with long conversations, researching people who could be advocates upon our return, lazing around or going on ice cream runs. There was little movement away from our computers for the following two days as we read testimonies of friends and family on Facebook who were enraged and dumbfounded. After a long period of 'recouping' we motivated ourselves to go to the nearby lake and entertainment park. The decision to go on our first hot air balloon ride was impromptu but it let us leave the worries and fears of the election behind as we floated above. As former first lady Michelle Obama stated, "When they go low, we go high."
