Mono Monday - A Frog's eye view ??

As you can probably guess I looked at the title of the challenge after I had done my blip and it's only possible link is somewhat derogatory to the French. This is is the obverse side of a 2 euro coin taken with my digital microscope. All the nations of the european community are allowed to put their own symbols on their side of the coin.and it took me some time to track this one down. At first I thought it was a native indian chief and wondered wha`t the heck this had to do with the EEC and then the leafy coronet made me think of more classical figures. It turns out to be a famous portrait of Dante Alighieri done by Raphael and adorns the Italian 2 euro coin.

My initial motivation in looking at my loose european coins was in fact to actually examine something that I had never even bothered to look at before in all of my travels. I don't think that we have been to Italy for fifteen years or more but I guess the european coinage gets thoroughly mixed up as people travel around Europe. So at least I was in the spirit of the frog's eye challenge in looking at something from a different perspective.
