The Rainbow Tree 2016
Each year, just before Christmas, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church holds what we call the 'Rainbow Service'. It is a service for those who have been bereaved and those attending are invited to tie a coloured ribbon to the tree in memory of a loved one. The tree remains in the church until Easter Sunday when the ribbons are removed and sewn into banners, cushions, bookmarks, etc..
One of my friends passed away just before New Year and Sunday was the first opportunity I had to tie a ribbon to the tree in his memory.
