Vistas of Peterhead
This afternoon I spent a happy few hours tootling around Peterhead harbour.
In the main photograph a few fishing boats are tied up at the quayside bathed in an interesting light.
The "extras".
1. Across the harbour a spanking new super-trawler of impressive size is surrounded by gulls, seals and eider duck. This is the Kings Cross, built in Poland and delivered in October 2016. If I had paid £24 million pounds I would have asked that the missing apostrophe be instated!
2. Meanwhile the Altaire, another large trawler based in Lerwick, was entering the harbour very much down at the bow, such was the weight of her catch!
3. As the day ended the natural light began to go out with a bang and the harbour light and Buchan Ness lighthouse stood by to take over duties.
4. Finally, a first look at the new tower blocks of flats erected by the town council in an attempt to solve the housing crisis. The rumour is that they were designed on the cheap by an old architect from the Soviet Bloc.
