Last Light

Nellie of the Woods and I went to a new cafe called Serendipity today! I'd seen a flier of theirs at the Xmas craft show and seeing they sold John Lewis surplus stock I knew I had to go! It was in a little hamlet down a muddy one way road, inside a huge metal roofed barn. There was a little heated tea room which was most welcome as the barn was freezing! Chatting to the owner I discovered John Lewis used to incinerate end of lines - including furniture! I managed to pick up an Apron and oven gloves along with Tamar honey and a chicken made of marble!!! She does furniture restoration and there were some fine old pieces of furniture -I shall be returning! Must make some space first!
Nellie and I had a good old chat about the NHS,  Corbyn and  Trump - I had watched his first news conference - oh dear me.
Good news is Polly has laid an egg! I had wondered why she was being so unsettled in the conservatory that morning - she kept trying to get in the bathroom and to the back of my shelves! Found the most precious blue tinted egg in the coop when I returned from my excursion! I had thought she was no longer laying as none all summer or Autumn!
Just as I was leaving for the allotment the sun broke through and I just loved how it looked - once on the allotment I got sleet! But another of the hens has come into lay and I left with 2 eggs! I had eggs for tea!
Most peeved that my circular knitting needles made me lose over 10 rows of knitting in my scarf  at the end of  the evening - it has screw on needle ends and one had become unscrewed and all my stitches fell off- I became increasingly unscrewed as I tried to pick up the stitches! Not easy with soft alpaca and silk wool of the darkest midnight blue and a cable and moss stitch! Decided to tackle it in the good light of the morning and went to bed - at least I had knitted another square on my blanket!
