Giant Eucalyptus
As I write this I am sitting in the living room with OilMan, brother Rick and his wife Meg. All four of us are staring at our phones. What is this world coming to? The funniest part is that we are sending things to each other....
We took a walk around the broad, tree lined leafy streets of the MacDonald Historic District, named after Mark Lindsey MacDonald. He was a lumber baron and designed the outside of his huge ornate home to show off the wood. The inside was quite utilitarian and dull until it was purchased in 2006 by a family who spent five years finding all the historically appropriate furnishings and finishes. They open it for a huge Halloween party and occasionally for private charity events.
The giant eucalyptus tree obliterates the pavement on the street corner outside the house. I have taken pictures of the MacDonald house before, so I chose the tree because I loved the late afternoon light. As I look out the window at home now, I realize that it is after five o'clock and still dusk. The days are getting longer, and it isn't raining!
