Oranje Fietsen

Today we hired bikes and cycled around Amsterdam. It's amazing how prominent cycling is, how safe it feels and just how many bikes there are. We cycled out to the last windmill in the city, which now houses a brewery and I had a strong pre-lunch ale. It made the journey across to Brouwersgracht canal fly by, and we indulged in some apple strudle from Cafe Winkle for lunch; it's regularly voted the best strudle in Amsterdam, and the huge slab didn't disappoint. It powered us on to Vondelpark where we spent a couple of hours relaxing and people/bike watching. We got lost in the park and ended up having a bit of a dash to get the bikes returned by 6pm. Our bums were definitely feeling the days cycling by that point!
After a recharge at the hotel, we went to the Anne Frank house, which was a very humbling experience and I was struck at how sensitive the display was.
