Football has the extraordinary ability to bring together the strangest of bedfellows - an editor, a lawyer, a writer, a taxi driver, a civil servant.... In this case the single thing they have in common is a love of Tottenham Hotspur. In what has become an annual ritual, I accompanied my editor to White Hart Lane for, in this case, Spurs versus West Brom, and I am becoming something of a lucky charm. Last year the team won 3-1. This year it was 4-0. Celebrations in the pub afterwards were, in that age old Glasgow expression, totally mental. This moment was captured during an ear-splitting rendition of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", which had the floor moving under our feet as if in an earthquake measuring 8 on the Richter Scale. I swear, this is life being lived as it should - in pure joy.
