Reach for the sky if you will

This tree on Derwent water reached too high without taking the appropriate precaution of making good penetrating foundations. As it has fallen only in the last few days, I felt it had a personal message for me : 'build your strength long and deep before trying to reach for the heights'.

It also brought to mind Edward Whypmer's famous line, one that could have been written with me in mind (!)......

“Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime"
