Positively Hogwartian ...

Benmore House in the gloom of a misty January afternoon - it was about 4.30pm when I took this - seemed at once menacing and welcoming with its lit windows. The gardens had been alive with red-waterproofed children all afternoon, newly arrived from Edinburgh schools for a stay in the wild. We spoke to some of them - they seemed struck by the fact that the journey had taken them 3.5 hours in the bus, which had come over the Rest rather than on the ferry. 

They probably thought they were miles from anywhere. Maybe they are ...
