Wheat

The forsythia bush really needs pruning - there was a flock of about 15 young sparrows that were in and out of it this morning but who whenever they were in became invisible (though not inaudible). I tried to photograph them but with disappointing results, so took a snap instead of some non-moving wheat which seems to have grown up beneath the bird feeder. Along with, I now see, an oat. It's a bit of a shady spot so I don't know if we'll reap a harvest - I noticed the other day that things are in full swing down south.

We must have spent quite some time up there, as I felt not inconsiderably knackered.
